Featherflight's black striped form could be seen, stealthily moving towards the place he had last seen his loner friend, Sunday. As he neared he opened his mouth slightly and tasted the air carefully. He sighed as he found the wind was blowing in the wrong direction, and scowled as he padded nearer. The wind never seemed to cooperate. Featherflight growled to himself as he settled down to wait for his friend to come. As he waited he decided to go over his herbs. Goldenrod to relieve pain from wounds, horsetail to stop infection, lavendar for a chill, coltsfoot to help clear lungs and soothe breathing, tansy to help with coughing.. he went on and on in his head, carefully recounting the herbs that he had learned.

In the distance a small black and white figure started approaching. At first she had been afraid to get right up close to the border for fear of what Dewey called a patrol that might no be happy if the found her. But when she saw Featherflight in the distance she felt her heart leap happily in her chest. She meowed a greeting to him as she scampered forward.

Featherflight looked up from his thinking and returned Sunday's greeting. He got to his paws and bounded to meet her. 'Hey Sunday. It's good to see you.' He felt a little silly saying this to a loner, but it was true enough. 'How have you been doing?' he meowed, curious to hear about her and her family that was so large and lived all together in one badgers den. The thought sounded strange to him but he accepted it, knowing that Sunday wouldn't lie to him.

The young, silly she-cat bounded forward gracefully. "Hello Featherflight!" she called happily. "Things at home have absolutely boring lately so its so nice to be able to learn something else other then Dewey's fighting practice," she confessed truthfully.

Featherflight grinned. 'Fighting practice can get annoying sometimes. I prefer hunting to fighting.' he smiled and shook his pelt. 'Well, I guess we can start with this herb here,' he walked over to the side a little and bumped a little plant gently with his paw. 'This is chamomile, it helps with depression, being tired, and it can soothe a riled up heart.' he grinned. 'I'm guessing you already know the cobweb thing to stop bleeding.' He glanced over at her curiously, deciding that he should probably have asked her what she already knew before he started telling her about herbs that she might already know about.

Sunday bounced her head up in down trying to soak all of the information in. She felt so excited and eager to learn something knew, especially something that she could use to take care of her family. "Gotcha," , Sunday smiled

Featherflight curled his tail around his paws. 'Why don't you tell me what you have already learned so that I won't be teaching you something that you already know about.' His eyes looked into hers as he waited for her answer. He liked looking at her, she was pretty. With a start he shook himself inwardly. Get a grip Featherflight! he growled to himself.

"Cobwebs to stop any bleeding and ferns to clean out the wounds. Um thats about it, Dewey never paid much attention to the medicine cat when he was in the clan." Sunday answered Fetherflight, looking up at him with soft green eyes. She wiggled with excitement about learning new things

Featherflight nodded. 'Okay then, this way!' Featherflight got to his paws and started off at a quick trot. He came to a two-leg garden and jumped over the fence. 'Here we are, there are several useful herbs here that don't grow in the forest.' He walked over to the garden bed. 'Here is marigold, the leaves are put on wounds and this is catnip, it helps with greencough, this is tansy and it used to help with coughing. Poppy seeds, you can find those in the forest but since we're here I'll show you them, can be used to lessen pain.'

Very obediently the black and white she-cat padded after the Windclan warrior. She jumped over the fence after him a bit awkwardly. "Ok," Sunday nodded flashing Featherflight a sweet smile, "Marigold leaves to put on wounds, catnip, for greencough, tansy for coughing and poppy seeds to lessen pain."

Featherflight nodded and grinned, pleased that she was such a quick learner. 'This is Aloe Vera, it is good for burns and skin problems if the leaves are chewed and put on the affected area. And then this,' He trotted over and dug next to some green shoots. 'This is garlic which can be used to get rid of fleas and it can help with some scratches.' Next he moved to a different garden and dug around, finding at last a brown knobby root. 'This is ginger and can be used for coughs and asthma. It tastes pretty good too.' he grinned. 'And that's always good. Medicine that helps and tastes good.' He winked at her and then started out of the garden. As he trotted out he brushed his tail against another plant. 'This is lavendar and it's good for chills and then Thyme is good for easing anxieties.' He jumped onto the fence and then waited for Sunday to follow.

"Aloe Vera for burns and skin problems, chew the leaves then put it on. Garlic gets rid of fleas and helps with scratches. Ginger for coughs and asthma. Lavender for chills. Thyme to ease ones anxieties," murmured Sunday as she trailed along after Featherflight. There were so many things medicine cats used already and so many more to come. It gave her great joy to learn them but also great fear. What if she mixed them up or forgot them? But she knew Dewey would use it as an excuse for her to visit Featherflight again. Featherflight didn't even know that Dewey was planning to have him as a brother-in-law. And Sunday had not the guts to tell him.

Featherflight stretched before jumping off of the fence and trotting into the woods again. 'For wounds it is good to mix goldenrod and marigold are good to mix together and put on them. Goldenrod helps wounds not hurt as much. Goldenrod is that plant over there. And if you mix goldenrod and huckleberry then it is a muscle reliever. I'll show you huckleberry in a moment. It's this way.' He headed off in a different direction, eyes ready for any herbs that he might come across so that he could identify them and tell Sunday about them. 'Juniper berries help with stomach aches. And if for any reason you need to make your patient vomit you can give them some yarrow. It tastes awful but it works. You need to make a cat vomit if they eat something posionness, like deathberries.' He shook his striped pelt and slowed his pace a little, enjoying his time with Sunday and talking about something that he loved to talk about. He was getting to be very comfortable around Sunday.

"Ok I got it, I got it all!" said Sunday smiling and bobbing her head up and down vigorously. She had always been a bit of an airhead at times. She waved her tail back and forth with excitement accidentally touching Featherflight on the shoulder. She glanced down at her paws embarrassed a bit.

Featherflight only smiled. 'There's the huckleberry bush. That's what you can mix with goldenrod for the muscle reliever.' He sat down and looked at it. 'Over there is Blessed Thistle and that can help toothaches, and alfalfa can help with tooth decay. Borage leaves.' He flicked his tail to the side. 'Lessens fever. Grass is good for upset stomachs.' He pushes around in the grass with a smile. 'Betcha never knew you were walking on medicine all the time. I sure was surprised when I heard that.' He chuckled.
