Autumnstar:; Autumnstar watched as Windstar came up to the Great Rock, she dipped her head back. She knew that Windstar had been a well respected warrior and then a deputy and now a leader. She had not doubt that Windstar would be a great leader. Suddenly another scent hit the roof of her mouth. ShadowClan. She watched as Dankstar made his way up to them. "Are we ready? Well?" Autumnstar shook her head as Dankstar came up to them and demanded to start the Gathering straight away. "The point of a Gathering is to let our warriors come together for a truce for one night a moon only and to share our news... But if you so wish, we can start straight away," Autumnstar said quietly. She knew that she was slightly causing controversy but she couldn't help it. She respected Dankstar, but his demanding ways did make her fur ruffle. Before anything else could be said she turned to Blackstar and Windstar. "The scents of the rogues are becoming increasingly varied, but they seem to be leaving the forst, rather than coming towards it. We haven't scented any in days," she added in a hushed voice so that no other cat could hear them except for the leaders. "If this is the case, I don't think we should bring it up agin, for it is unecessary," she said seriously.
Patchpaw:; Patchpaw watched as Dankstar made his way up to the Great Rock. He twitched his tail as he watched his brazen leader make his presence well known. He smiled to himself before he looked at Kestralpaw once again. "The prey... welll, it's leaf bare, not much can be expected," he said with a smile. "We have enough to feed ourselves and that's all that matters," he added with a grin. "And your clan?" Even though the subject of prey bored him, he always found it polite to ask about anothers' prey quanitity. His emerald eyes wandered to the Great Rock and he found himself looking at his mother for a long moment. She seemed calm and relaxed and he grinned, letting his fur relax. He knew that his mother was a good leader and often led her Clan with her heart, rather than head, but she knew right from wrong. He twitched his dark grey tail and smiled at Kestralpaw.

"Good, good." She said sortly. Her long light tabby fur kept her warm even on a cold night such as a night of Leaf-bare. She watched as the leaders gathered at the highrock came forward to begin. Kestrelpaw walked backwards briefly, trying to postion herself well so that she could view the leaders more clearly. Just then she felt a cats paw under her own and she spun round to see a rather angry Shadowclan warrior glaring at her. "Sorry!" she began to say but the Shadowclan she-cats vile expresion was words enough. She looked so angry and ragged. And evil..
Ebonyflame didn't have time to deal with apprentice nonsense! She spat angrily at the apprentice and cursed under her breath. If it had not been a truce she would have cuffed her ears. " Watch where your going, Riverclan apprentice!" she said the words with much spite and hate. She snatched her paw up an licked it thoughly then snarled and looked at Patchpaw sitting beside the Riverclan spawn who had backed into her. "Becareful who you make friends with Patchpaw, you'll have to go to war with her someday."

Blackstar noticed the way Autumnstar was regarding Dankstar. It was respectful, but she didn't seem to like his tone as he spoke to them. Blackstar felt that it would take him some time to get used to being on the same level as these cats, he hadn't been deputy very long before Nightstar had died. His body stiffened as he remembered his clan's previous leader. He still wasn't sure if he could fill those pawprints. Autumnstar had alot of authority, having been leader the longest, and she replied to Dankstar's demands curtly. Blackstar hoped that someday he could command that kind of attention from everyone. Before any attempt to start the gathering could be made, Autumnstar turned to him and Windstar. She brought up the rogues and suggested that because their scent was so old that they should not discuss it at this gathering. "I think that's a good idea. We don't want our clan's to worry unnecessarily, though we should still look out for them for a while yet." he quickly agreed with her. She was right of course. The clan cats already knew of the rogues, so there wouldn't be any need to remind the clans of them. It would be a job for the leaders once in their own camps whether they wished to keep the patrols on the look out for them.

Shaking his head, Dankstar glared at Autumnstar briefly. She acted like he did not understand what the Gathering was about - a wrong assumption. Turning away from her, he let his anger boil over for a moment, and his lip curled up in an angry sneer. While they continued to talk about simple trivialities, biding the time, Dankstar took a moment to consider each of the Clans... and their leaders... carefully. RiverClan was pathetic. They had gone through so many changes within the last few moons, and now had [what he considered] as an inferior cat as leader. Blackstar was excellent, but not challenging enough - he needed to step out, to make it known to the rest of the Clans - publicly and in the most attention-seeking manner that he could - that RiverClan was something to be feared. Until them, he remained lowest in Dankstar's opinion. Windstar was not much better. Silverstar had luckily had WindClan already in a post to be feared, so Windstar was given breathing space for a few moments until she had to take on the responsibility. She had been a great and well-respected deputy and warrior, even by ShadowClan's standards, and would be sure to make a good leader. Autumnstar, on the other hand, he respected. The oldest leader, and held in high respect by all the Clans. ThunderClan was to be feard, truthfully. But why did they keep postponing? "If you do not have any complaints, I would like to go first." The words were hissed softly to the others, but Autumnstar in particular - a subtle message saying that he would answer to nobody but himself.

Autumnstar:; Autumnstar dipped her head at Blackstar as he voiced his opinion. "We should always remain vigilant and we should always be on the look out for rogues, but for now, I think that the threat has passed." Autumnstar flicked her tail in contempt as Dankstar proceeded to let his anger get the better of him. She gave a brief smile to herself before she silently thanked StarClan for making her cool headed. "If you so wish Dankstar, you may go first," she said as she turned her head to answer him. She narrowed her eyes slightly for a moment before she bounded to the head of the rock and began to yowl for the Clan cats' to listen to them. Once she had their attention, she stepped back, flicking her tail at Dankstar, motioning for him to go first. She thought about Dankstar for a brief moment- she regarded him highly but she knew that he was proud. She too was proud, but she knew when she had to be curteous. She twitched her tail before she let her thoughts wander and with that, her eyes too. She sought out her Clan before she moved towards her kit, Patchpaw. She them moved once more to look at the ShadowClan warriors. She knew that ShadowClan was the biggest threat to her Clan, but she was sure that they would be able to fight them off. ThunderClan was striving and at the moment, they were strong.

"Thank you." Dankstar pushed past the other leaders to stand at the head of the great rock, staring imperiously down upon the Clans. His voice, unlike previous gatherings, was raised, and it boomed out over the heads of the crowd. "ShadowClan is doing well. Prey is plentiful, and the weather is favorable." A pause. "That is all." Short, but it served his purpose. And that was all that was needed.
Winter's eyes narrowed as Dankstar spoke. The words were few, too few, as if he was afraid of saying something. Could he be? On further reflection, she doubted it - there wasn't enough evidence to signal anything suspicious. And anyways, she could always ask Firestone.

[ Windstar's goin' next, hope thats okay. ]
After Dankstar finished speaking, Windstar shot a quick look at the other Clan leaders. When no one stepped up immedietely - like, in five seconds - she approached the space at the front of the great rock that Dankstar had just vacated. Staring out over the Clans, she took a moment to gather herself, then began to speak. "WindClan is well. The richness of prey has blessed our Clan as well, and we are thriving. I regret to inform you of the death of Silverstar -" a pause for remembrance, and then she continued - "But am happy, also, to tell you of the promotion of Phantomspirit to the place of deputy." She acknowledged him, then turned to Crescentgaze. "And our new medicine cat, Crescentgaze. Each are filling the positions to the best of their ability, and WindClan is still fit and alert." The words were directed at the other leaders, a swift affirmation that WindClan was still a Clan to be reckoned with, even though it had undergone all of the different changes within the past moon. "That is all I have to say." She stepped down from the front of the great rock to allow another leader to step up, her mind whirling. She had sucessfully made the announcement. The worst was over.
"Relax." "Yeah, yeah. Of course." Rivermist took several deep breaths to do as Winter said, and slowly was able to regain some composure. The gathering had started, and Rivermist payed close attention as each leader gave their announcements. Dankstar's was short, and Windstar's long - Blackstar and Autumnstar still had to do theirs. In the lull between the changing of leaders, she allowed her gaze to wander over to where Windstar had dipped her head when mentioning the new medicine cat. Ah - there she was! Nudging Winter with her tail, she jerked her head over to where Crescentgaze was sitting. "Come on, lets go," she hissed out of the corner of her mouth.

Autumnstar:; Autumnstar stepped up next, usually you would speak in order of rank. It would usually be Autumnstar's turn to speak, then Dankstar's, then Blackstar's and then Windstar's, but why would she complain about things like that? "ThunderClan sends their comiserations to WindClan for Silverstar's passing. She was a great warrior and I hope that you fill her paw steps correctly," Autumnstar said with a light threat in her voice. She hated having to put on a front in front of all the Clans. She had to prove that her Clan was not one to be taken light heartedly and she hated that they had to resort to threatening eachother to be heard. "ThunderClan has no new apprentices nor warriors but we have welcomed four healthy kits into the Clan. Their mother and father are Orchidwing and Dustfang," she said before stepping back, flicking her tail at Blackstar to indicate that it was his turn. As she made her speech she looked at Patchpaw, when would he be a warrior? She twitched her tail as she stepped back. She watched the whole Clans with care, she wanted to see Patchpaw again.

WindClan The timid coal black she-cat looked up as her name was mentiond. Phantomspirt, had she heard correct? Now everyone here knew who she was! Not only that, but she knew no one else! She looed around. In the air a smell was present. One she had smelled over the mnoor. ShadowClan? The WIndClan deputy stuck up her head, catchting the eyes of a large tom. THE ShadowClan medicine cat. Firestone. Phantomsprit lowered her gaze and looked instaed at he rpaws, her teal eyes blinking and her whote phantoms mask consealing her blush.ShadowClan A big bulky tom looked around and flciekd his tail. Where were the other medicine cats? Ah! THere they were! THe shadowClan medicine cat stalked over to them, casting curious glances over the others. While doing so,m he met teh teal gaze of the new deputy of WIndClan. He blinked his amber orbs and continued on. Firestone stopped and sat next to Cresentgaze, teh new WIndClan medicine cat. Was it just him, or where the WIndClanners getting alot of new kittys to talk about?RiverClan Darkwater smiled up at the leaders as the Gathering began. His own amber globes of kindness concentrated of taking in all the sights. He kenw now was a time to get to know your otehr Clans, but also to analyze their weaknesses! He wasn't a dark cat, but he had kits to protect now!

The moon shone clearly tonight, unperturbed by any wandering clouds. That's a good sign. The short, springy grass of the WindClan moors, so familiar to Crescentgaze now, was easy to stride over. Her tortoiseshell pelt stood out in the darkness of the night, clearly visible to any predators who happened to be passing by. The she-cat winced and quickened her pace. Is it just me, or are those amber eyes? But she refused to think of anything but the Gathering. She was late. Anybody would be able to tell. Ivywhisker, an elder, had had a bad toothache. She hadn't been able to leave before administering the correct medication, and it turned out she'd been running low. At last she'd had to hand over the cranky old cat to some warrior and run to Fourtrees. Which she was doing now.
She arrived to find her name being called as her leader announced the new medicine cat and deputy. Crescentgaze lowered her head a bit, embarrassed at so much attention -- if for a brief period of time -- and lowered her head to smooth her wind-ruffled fur. She then padded over to join the other medicine cats, still a bit edgy but more relaxed now than she had been a few moments ago. It seemed they were all there. Except her, of course. Can't I ever be on time? Why do I always have to make WindClan look bad? the she-cat thought despairingly a minute before the intermingled scents of the Clans hit her. She was happy to be here; why should she be in a bad mood? Crescentgaze nodded slightly in greeting to the other medicine cats. "Greetings, Rivermist, Firestone, Winter. How is the prey running?" She kept one eye on the other medicine cats and one eye on the leaders, who were continuing with their announcements. Most of the Clan were still socializing, so she continued to do this. It was her first Gathering, after all; she didn't want to stand out. [/blockquote]

Blackstar listened to the other leaders present their clan's news to the cats gathered. It would be his turn soon, and as of yet he wasn't sure how he would begin. Maybe with the news of nightstar's passing? he thought, watching as Autumnstar walked forwards to take her turn. After her, he would have to step forwards. He quickly determined what news he should present to the clans, and decided their order as well, from most important down, though all of it was important. Autumnstar finished her announcements and flicked her tail for him to begin. Taking a quick breathe that wouldn't be noticed, he stepped forwards and swept his green eyed gaze over the clan cats that were looking up at him. "Our clan has also recently lost a good leader. Nightstar has taken her place among our warrior ancestors and watches down on us tonight." he began. His clan had mourned her death, as they should, and had now accepted that she was still watching over Riverclan from starclan. "I am delighted to announce that Swiftpool has become our new deputy, and is already doing a wonderful job organizing our patrols." he continued. He knew from listening to Nightstar lead the gatherings, that it was important to communicate how strong the clan was. If he were to make them sound weak, they would certainly attract the kind of attention that was unwanted. Their camp was situated on an island between two streams, where it was less likely other clans would attack them, but it was still important for them to know that just because they'd been going through some difficulties, they weren't leaving their borders unguarded. "We have three new apprentices and a fourth kit is ready to gain a mentor as well. Kestrelpaw, Songpaw and Icepaw, who have all come to attend their first gathering. We also have a new litter of kits, growing quickly, as they are apt to do." he announced, being sure to spend time ensuring that their clan had many paws to keep it protected. The only thing that he could think of to add was their prey situation, which was as good as they could hope in leaf-bare. "Our prey is also running well." he concluded, looking around the cats once more before he stepped back. He was finished and he brought his green gaze to rest on Autumnstar, who he assumed would close the gathering.

Autumnstar:; Autumnstar watched Blackstar as he finished his announcement. She looked at him for a long moment before she twitched her tail. He needed to be more confident in himself, Nightstar chose him for a reason. Stepping forward, she assumed her position to close the Gathering. As the longest reigning leader, she had the right. "The Clans mourn both deaths of Nightstar and Silverstar and hope that they are great in StarClan, for they were great in the forest too. Both Windstar and Blackstar have earned their right to stand beside myself and Dankstar. ThunderClan both awknowledges and agrees with their leadership." She said nothing about ShadowClan as it wasn't up for her to announce whether Dankstar supported their leadership or not. She twitched her tail before her eyes looked at the moon which was slowly fading. With that a final thought drilled in her mind. The gathering was over and it seemed that her Clan was striving the best from all the rest. She had a new litter of kits and no deaths, but the other Clans seemed to lose their cat, all except ShadowClan. Dankstar seemed too secretive to share anything more about his Clan. "The Gathering is over. May StarClan watch over us all," Especially Patchpaw, she added in her mind. She flicked her tail and jumped from the High Rock, gathering her Clan together before she looked at Patchpaw. "Twilight," she whispered as she passed him. She had to do it in a way so that no one noticed which infuriated her. He was her son, but she had to hide it. She shook her head before she turned her head to look at Rivermist. It wouldn't surprise her if the Medicine Cats stayed out until twilight discussing StarClan.

"There you are!" Rivermist glared in annoyance at the WindClan medicine cat, then quickly stopped herself. There had to be a good reason for her lateness. "I have some very important news to tell you all," she hissed under her breath. "Winter already knows, but we figured it couldn't wait for the next medicine cat meeting."
Windstar nodded politely as Autumnstar closed the meeting, then jumped down off the Great Rock. Waving her tail, she summoned her Clan to her. "Say all your good-byes now," she meowed. "We're leaving soon. Cresentgaze-" she swiveled her head and looked at her medicine cat, who was talking to the other medicine cats. "Do you need more time?"

Blacklight listened patiently as Autumnstar concluded the gathering. He dipped his head to the other leaders and followed Autumnstar and Windstar from the top of the rock. He flicked his tail for his clan to follow him, glancing at Winter to say that she could stay if necessary and then traversed the rest of the clearing to the trees on his clan's territory. He waited patiently for a moment for his clan to follow and then lead them back to the Riverclan camp. He knew that he would get better at presenting his clan's news, and would determine more easily what the other clans did or did not need to know. He was determinded to get it right.

Dankstar knew the other leaders weren't happy with him. His announcement had been too short, his manner too agressive, to command any approval from Autumnstar, Windstar, or even Blackstar. When Autumnstar gave her acknowledgement of ThunderClan's acceptance of the new leaders, Dankstar didn't follow her example. Let the Clan's think what they wanted to think! He agreed with the leadership, but if they could not understand that, then there was nothing for him to do. They would have to know instinctively. Leaping off the great rock, he gathered his Clan about him with a flick of his tail. "Come," he mewed teresly. Glancing over at his medicine cat, he saw that Firestone was deep in conversation with the other medicine cats. He'd leave him to it, then. Firestone could take care of himself. Nevertheless, Dankstar felt obliged to at least notify his medicine cat of their departure. "Patchpaw! Do me a favor, would you, and go tell Firestone that we're leaving. He can come of his own accord. Thanks." He would wait to move out until Patchpaw returned.
Winter sighed with relief as the other medicine cat's joined Rivermist and her. Nodding silently as Rivermist spoke, she waited until her friend had finished speaking before saying under her breath - "Let me assure you it is of the utmost importance. The safety of your Clan depends on it. Will your leaders let you stay back for a moment?" She knew Blackstar would, and Winter glanced over at him just for confirmation. She met his gaze as he shot her a glance, and nodded slightly, telling him she would follow later. Good. And now they had to wait until the rest of the Clans cleared out, which shouldn't be long...
