A small brown tabby raced swiftly through the forest. Tiny paws, armed with sharp claws, kept up the fast pace. Lean muscles rippled. Thin whiskers quivered. Large ears twitched. Amber eyes gleamed. A dark tail lashed from side to side in excitement.
Smallpaw skidded to a halt, quickly tasting the air. Nothing out of the ordinary. For the moment, anyway, The Thunderclan apprentice padded on wards more slowly, keeping an eye out for prey to take back for the elders.

Raindance followed the apprentice out of the camp, keeping away so they couldnt scent her. She grinned and placed each paw down carfully. Birds flew overhead and mice rustled in the grass, but she didnt feel like hunting.
When Smallpaw stopped, so did she. She put up her head and tasted the air too, just in case.

Smallpaw could now sense that someone was behind him. He had a quick sniff, easily distinguishing the familiar Thunderclan scent. Great!, he thought. Now I can show them how good I am at hunting. He remained still for a couple of heart-beats, and sure enough, a squirrel; too thick to notice a still young tabby; crept out of the undergrowth. Very slowly, Smallpaw crouched down. His paws glided across the ground, resting them gently on the autumn leaves that were scattered across the ground. Now he was less than a tail-length away. Bunching his muscles, he pounced; landing squarely on the prey. It barely even had time to look up. Smallpaw grinned through the ginger hair. He carried his catch back a few steps before he begun to bury it. Then he looked up, seeing if the cat was going to show itself to him.

Raindance was impressed with the appretices catch. She nodded her approval, then remembered he couldnt see her. She stepped in front of him and meaowed, "Congrats! You are becomeing an accomplished hunter, iv heard!" She sat and curled her tail around her paws, blincking silently.

"Thanks!", called Smallpaw, looking up as he finished burying his prey. Satisfied that it was covered enough, her trotted over to his clan-mate. "How are you then Raindance?" he asked politely. He battered away a couple of leaves on the ground and sat down in front of the Thunderclan she-cat. His eyes looked up to her every now and then, but the majority of the time he kept them fixed on his paws. Smallpaw had recently developed the habit of feeling nervous around older and more experienced cats. It had come from causing a fuss at a gathering 2 moons ago, and he'd always felt like cats stared at him because of what he'd previously done.

RAindance, noteing Smallpaws nervousness, grinned in amusement. She giggled and covered her mouth with her tail. "Sorry!" She mewoed, "Im just not used to cats being nervous around me!" She grinned sheepisly, slighly embaressed. "So, have you spoken to Bluepaw lately?" She had grown found of the little apprentice herself!

Smallpaw blushed at the she-cat's words. "Sorry", he muttered without looking up. "Ever since that gathering..." He shook himself, emptying his head of that memory. He didn't want to think about it; let alone talk about it! Raindance's next words brought him back to earth.
"Bluepaw?" the apprentice repeated. "Now and then in the apprentice den, but not any more than usual." He looked up at Raindance. "Is there a reason why you ask?" he questioned her.

Raindance licked her lips and swished her tail. "Not really. Just winderin." Sheopened her mouth, exposing the scent glands at the roof of her mouth. She stood up quickly. "I scent another cat. Keep quiet!" She crouched down, indictateing for Smallpaw to do the same.

Smallpaw obediently pressed himself against the ground, although he wasn't really worried. Another cat? Big deal! It was probably just a Thunderclanner anyway. But he listened carefully, his ears pricked. Perhaps if Raindance noticed how attentive and respectful he was, she'd tell Autumnstar. It was the best way to be forgiven for embarrassing the Thunderclan leader two moons ago at that Gathering....

Raindance sniffed again. It was loner scent, close by too! She crawled silently through the grass. Any sond she made could be deadly! "Stya quiet!" she muttered under her breath, "I smell loner." She pricked her ears forwards, trying to pinpoint the cats location. It didn't sound big, but still! She got even lower to the ground. Glancing over her should, she watched SMallpaw carefully.

Smallpaw quickly tasted the air to be sure. Yes, Raindance was right - that wasn't the smell of Thunderclan. Neither did Smallpaw recognize it from when he'd been at the gathering. Instead, the scent seemed to be of cats with no home; cats that wandered outside of the clan boundaries. The apprentice crouched down even further, anxiously watching the foliage in front of him.

Smallpaw shot a glance at Raindance. "Just give the word", he whispered with a hiss, "and we'll rip off that loner's fur!" The apprentice unsheathed his claws and ran them through the dirt, itching with impatience. He was desperate to jump out there and do something for his clan mates - protect them from intruders, to defend their territory. Most of all he wanted to prove what a great warrior he could be; to show Thunderclan that an apprentice should never be underestimated.

Raindance shook her head. "We must not fight at first! If this cat agress to leave peacfully, then we see her off>" She stepped up to the cat and stood to her right, seeing that was her good eye.
Blind tensed as the cat moved towards her. She could fight, but she sensed another cat to. Probly a young one like herself, but two cats could easly defeat a half-blind cat!

The apprentice came to stand of Raindance's other side. He bared his teeth at Blind, letting out a small snarl. As much as he knew that the older warrior was right, he still wanted to sink his teeth into the loner's fur. How dare you come onto Thunderclan territory! The angry words tumbled around in his head. The apprentice didn't try to calm his aggressive thoughts. He let his eyes burn at Blind threateningly.
