Brownpaw's small brown form slipped through the undergrowth. He started forward again, Have to make it to training on time! He growled to himself and quickened his pace, unfortunately he hadn't gone that fast for a while, unless it was somewhere he knew exceptionally well, so he ran right into a bush. He shook his head angrily as he backed away and tasted the wind carefully. Okay, training grounds are that way. He told himself, carefully testing his steps with his whiskers as he went forward slowly this time.
When he finally got to the training area he sat down with a sigh, here at last! He twitched his ears, wondering if his mentor was there already or not.

The bushes around the training ground quivering slightly for a heartbeat. After a slight pause, a red-ish brown tabby emerged, his paws stained with the colour of dust. Birchfur gave himself a shake and padded over to greet his apprentice. "Hello Brownpaw", the tom said with a smile. His amber eyes glittered in excitement; this would be his first training session with his first apprentice. He hadn't been able to believe it when Spottedstar had told him that he was ready for an apprentice; but it was true. He was going to mentor Brownpaw.

Brownpaw jumped a little as Birchfur emerged. 'Oh, hello!' He grinned happily. 'I'm so happy you're my mentor!' He was excited, very excited, he would finally be trained in the ways of a warrior, and someday he would be a great warrior. He bounced up to his mentor with a mew of greeting. He used his whiskers and good ear frantically to be sure he wouldn't run smack into Birchfur as he had almost done at his apprentice ceremony.

Birchfur grinned in agreement. "I'm glad that you're my apprentice", he replied warmly; honestly as well. The young warrior could barely contain his excitement as he sat down beside Brownpaw. He didn't have much experience, but he would do all he could to make Brownpaw the best warrior possible. "So what do you want to do first?" he asked his apprentice. "Hunting or fighting moves?" He didn't really mind either way.

Brownpaw gulped. Fighting was hard for him to do without giving his secret away, that was how his fellow apprentice Tigerpaw had found out, only he and his sister Quickpaw knew of his disability, and he wasn't too keen on anyone else knowing. Hunting was indeed much easier, or would it be? Would Birthfur ask Brownpaw to imitate him? Brownpaw shuddered inwardly. No, not good. Well here's for it, eeny meeny miney moe... 'How about fighting?' Brownpaw suggested with as excited a grin as he could conjure up, which was a pretty convincing one in fact.

"Sure". Immediately Birchfur lowered himself to a crouch and began to stalk around Brownpaw. "Keep your eyes on me", he instructed. "Don't let me out of your sight." The warrior, of course, did not know how hard this task would be for a blind cat. He continued to move around in circular motions around Brownpaw, not letting his amber gaze drift away from his new apprentice.

No no no! Brownpaw screamed inside. He blinked, trying vainly to make his unseeing eyes see, but soon gave up. Trying to focus on the few obscure fuzzy shadows was starting to give him a headache. He swiveled his ears and twitched his nose, turning slightly as he heard pawsteps on the ground beside him. He felt a rock against his paw and was able to avoid tripping over it as he tried his best to face his mentor. Despite his efforts he still had trouble, though he did pretty well for being blind.

Birchfur continued to move from side to side, trying to confuse his apprentice. But Brownpaw didn't seem to be fooled; he just kept his gaze wherever his mentor moved back to. Birchfur was impressed, not realizing Brownpaw's weakness. The red-brown warrior crouched down for a few heartbeats before launching himself at Brownpaw, his paws stretched out to catch himself if Brownpaw moved.

Brownpaw didn't hear or scent Birchfur coming and so was hit by him. He let out a mrowr of surprise and fell over, body stiffening and eyes screwing shut for fear of getting them injured worse. It had hurt when he got them injured the first time, and he didn't what to repeat it. He tried to push at Birchfur with his paws, claws sheathed. He missed at his first thrust, but felt his paws hit something solid the second time. He pushed with all of his might.

Birchfur hit his apprentice heavily, just managing to remain on his paws. His left shoulder felt sore, as if it had been badly bruised. As the warrior blinked dust out of his eyes, he felt something push him over. Of course, it was Brownpaw. Birchfur raised a paw to use a move known as the belly-rake on Brownpaw, but realized that it wouldn't be any use with sheathed claws. Instead, the tom used his strength to over-come his apprentice, and within a minute he was back on his paws.

Brownpaw struggled to get to his paws, trying hard to keep back the stinging tears. He hadn't been hurt physically but he was confused, and was worried that he might never be able to become a warrior. He wasn't sure where Birchfur was, his ears swiveled wildly, trying to decipher a reliable sound that could be his mentor. For a moment he was sure he had found him, but then he realized that that was his own shuffling paws. He stood still, and listened, twitching his whiskers and nose in a frenzy to locate Birchfur.

[I feel so sorry for Brownpaw! =( ]
Birchfur paused a few tail-lengths away, watching his apprentice desperately wriggling around in the sand. "Are you alright Brownpaw?" he asked, taking a step closer. "Did some dust get into your eyes?" He padded forward, watching Brownpaw with his worried amber gaze. This could be a trick - a chance for Brownpaw to jump onto his mentor - or there could be something seriously wrong with Birchfur's new apprentice.

[{I know, so do I! Bwahahaha!}]
Brownpaw stood tensely. He had now located his mentor, he was right in front of him. He gulped, but shook his head. 'I'm alright.' Though his tone was confident though his eyes were still very worried, how could he become a warrior liket this? An enemy wouldn't stop to ask him if he was alright, he would just kill him. He shivered, if he told his mentor would he still be allowed to train? Or would his mentor not like him anymore because of his disablilty? He stood undecided, both wanted to and not wanted to tell his secret.

"Okay, we'll continue then." Birchfur sounded a bit hesitant, but if Brownpaw said that he was alright, they might as well continue. The warrior took a few steps back and crouched down; ready to pounce. "We'll see how you go with starting this time", he meowed. "Try to do something that I won't suspect; remember that I'm ready for you."

[{I hate it when that happens, it is like the computor eats your posts! }]
Brownpaw frowned but cruched also. He creapt to the side a little but stopped as he realized that he hadn't the slightest idea where Birchfur was. After a moment of thought he sat up. He couldn't be trained without his mentor knowing, and though he hated to tell others of his weakness he knew that he had to, this just wasn't going to work like this. 'Birchfur.' He mewed. 'I...I'm not okay. I...' He shivered in apprehension but continured. 'I can't see. I haven't been able to see since I was brought to WindClan.' He hung his head, there, his secret was out, now what?
