Clashing thunder sounded around Kestrelpaw. Her paws ached as she ran swiftly through the forest. Thunderclan's territory seemed so scary. So different and wierd. Then she was surrounded by thunderclan warriors. They were everywhere. All hissing and spitting at her. The cats faces were blank and then, all of a sudden they faded away into the trees. The backround changed. She was standing on a moor. Wind blew in her face and even with her long fur she felt freezing. "How do they cope!"She gasped. Then several windclan cats sprinted over tghe green hill. Although, yet again their faces were hidden, they scented strongly of Windclan cats. They turned their heads to look at her they ran at her howling in fury. Kestrelpaw cowered slightly as the seven cats whento pounch but instinct told her to stay and fight. The biggest cat jumped first. He was about to land on her when the scenery changed once more. The faceless cats were gone but she was yet again in unfamilier territory. The marshy, wet territory of Shadowclan replaced it. It was frightning in a way. The ground was soft and wet beneath her paws. Once again fierce, black warriors surrounded her and once again they appeared from nowhere. They didn't even give warning they just attacked but before they could touch her they dissapered. The marshland fadded.
Kestrelpaw awoke ubruptly. She looked round as if expecting to see enemy warriors. Instead she saw that she was in the apprentice den, back home in Riverclan. The dream must have been a sign from starclan to start her training. Rainstorm had not taken her out yet and she was feeling useless just lying around all the time. She charged out of the den and called out for Rainstorm. Hopefully her mentor would not be doing anything.

Rainstorm had been lying awake, scared to death and curled in a ball. This was her first apprentice and she was afraid that she would hate her. When the sun came up she jumped out of the den and stretched her legs shakily. It had been a long time since she had been an apprentice, and she was afraid she'd be a horrible mentor and that Kestrelpaw would hate her forever for the rest of both of their lives. Then she'd jut have one extra cat hating her. She knew (or thought she knew) that the whole clan was against her because of her parents, who had tried to overthrow the leader and take over the clan moons ago.
But now she was just an afraid young she-cat who was very skittish at pretty much anything. She padded softly towards the apprentice den and called in gently, "Kestrelpaw? Are you in there?" As she waited for a reply she began being scareder and scareder. What if everything went wrong? What if something happens? What if- what if she doesn't like me?

Kestrelpaw bounded up to Rainstorm, her long light tabby pelt bounched with her. Silver eyes spakled with joy and curiosity at the fact that she was finally going to be trained to be a Riverclan warrior. Even if she was the daughter of the cats that tried to take over. It was after all her parents and not her who had done those things. She had no control over her parents. She had as much control over them as Kestrelpaw had about the kestrel carrying her away. She smiled brightly at Rainstorm. Her ears pricked. She would impress her new mentor. She would make sure of it. She just hoped that Rainstorm would be nice to her, and not be cross because of her jumpyness.
"Yes Rainstorm. I'm here." She purred, flicking her fluffy light tawny tail that was lined with black stripes.

"Oh!" Rainstorm just about jumped three feet off the ground at the sound of her apprentice's voice. "Uh, he-hello, Kestrelpaw," She stuttered out her words with a nervous smile and pawed at the ground anxiously. She coughed before continuing. "Um, we're gonna do borders today. Is that okay with you?" She dropped her emerald green eyes to the forest floor. What if it wasn't okay with her? Then she'd have to rethink everything over again and make a new decision!
But then what if Kestrelpaw didn't like her next decision? Then she'd have to choose the last thing and if Kestrelpaw didn't choose it.. What would she do? What would happen? But she seemed to be a nice apprentice.. she could be agreeable, maybe. Rainstorm's eyes lifted warily. Maybe.. but probably not. The blue she-cat shifted her weight uncomfortably as she waited for what the apprentice would say.

Kestrelpaw's eyes glittered with excitment. Her dream made more sense. Starclan must want her to learn othercats sents and borders. She knew them quite well from the two gatherings she had been fortunate enough to go to. "Sure, Rainstorm. That would be great." She looked up into her mentor's green eyes. Rainstorm was a very pretty shecat. "Wow, i'm so excited!" She meowed. She hadn't intended to say the words aloud and shrank back, imbarassed.

Rainstorm relaxed, even if it was only a tiny bit. She had been so afraid that Kestrelpaw would disagree with her decisions, she hadn't hardly thought about her agreeing. She purred happily when the apprentice announced her joy of learning. She was glad to help her out. She was glad that she finally had an apprentice, but that didn't mean she wasn't still scared. She didn't know what would happen today; for the future didn't always play itself the way she wanted. It never really had. She smiled slightly, stood up, and flicked her tail, ready to leave.
"Are you ready?" She asked, hopefully awaiting another ecstatic reply from her newly named apprentice. It wasn't her fault she was antsy for a good day, but expecting a bad one in its place. She just couldn't last a day without at least a little bit of pessimism. She was just so afraid something would happen and she wouldn't know what do do about it.

At the nose that Kestrelpaw was making during her dream, the handsome appretnice Nightpaw shook himself out of sleep. He glared at RAinstorm as she approche dher appretnice, angry that he himself didn't have one. THe seven mooned old tom-cat stalked over to the two, yellow eyes narrowed. He knew that these cats probly thought him unloyal and didn't trust him, jsut like all teh others! His long, slick red pelt gleamed in the green light filtering in through the treetops. He looked up, suprised tha there was still green leaes this far into Leafe-bare. Orange nose stuck up in the air, he looked over every inch of the warrior and appretnice before him. Audits twichied, exposing the pink insides. Rainstrom. Kestralpaw. He greated them in his low voice. IT only added to his colorful handsomeness. A she ywaned, short fangs were exposed, a perfect match with his thin claws. Short, slim body was carried with pride, long lancy legs with amber spots on them stood square, daring anyone to make fun of him. Large paws unsahethed claws before sheatjhing them again. All in one quick motion. His round yellow eyes frocused on Kestralpaw. An apprentice, liek himself. Yet, she had showe dno interest in him. He galred at her with his big yellow eyes before saying, not asking. I am joining you on patrol.
Odd and quiet, misunderstood by all, the handsome tom-cat flicked his tail high in the air before licking his chest. He lookeda round the camp as more cats began to emerge She smirked, knowing he was related to none of them. After all, his mother had been a loner and his father had been a ShadowCLan warrior! So how had he grown up in RIverCLan? All he knew was he was born on WindClan terriotory and his father carrie dhim to RiverClan. The thought sickened him. No wonder no Clans trusted him! Was he suposed to be loyal to his blood, or his Clan he was raised in? Or the loners? Or WindCLan, since he was born there? He left out a sigh before snapping his attteion back to Rainstorm and Kestralpaw, waiting for an answer.

Kestrelpaw starred in surprise at her fellow apprentice. Nightpaw should know better than to demand to come on a patrol. She knew he was angry latley as he had no mentor but if he was going to get one soon he would need to show more respect than that! She looked at the red tom. He was quite handsom but she didn't like his personality. He was really wierd! And he had also ruined Foxpaw and her game once. They had been playfighting and Nightpaw had just come along and ruined eveything! She curled her large fluffy tail around her little paws. She watched as the tom retracted his claws. She gave him a look and hissed lowly. She really didn't get on well with the apprentice but she supposed if she wanted to become a warrior she would half to put up with him. Today was about her proving herself to her new mentor but she didn't wan't Nightpaw to spoil all that. Mabey Rainstorm would ask Blackstar to change her apprentice to Nightpaw! After all he was a good hunter and fighter and Kestrelpaw very jumpy.

Rainstorm cowered under the smaller cat's piercing gaze. "Uh.. okay." She said, slinking back a few steps in fear. Really, there was nothing to fear, but the little tomcat was just so... so... scary. He was always demanding something and was so fierce-looking in an odd way. "So, uh, I guess we can go now." She mewed unhappily. She was soo glad that Blackstar had given her Kestrelpaw instead of Nightpaw as an apprentice, because if she was given Nightpaw she wouldn't have known what to do with him. All she knew about him was that he had some strange way into the clan, she wasn't sure how, but something weird. It couldn't be any worse than her own history, she figured with a sigh. She turned her back cautiously to the two apprentices and flicked her tail, showing she was ready to go on ahead to the first border. She turned her head, ready to leave. As she waited for them to follow her, she wondered where exactly she would go to. Thunderclan border, Windclan border, Shadowclan border, Fourtrees... where would be the most interesting place to go, anyway? Any of those places would be at least KIND of interesting, but still.. After a moment of thought, she decided on going to the Thunderclan border. It was the fastest, after all. "Ready?" She asked, in fear that Nigtpaw might make a fuss over something. She didn't know exactly what it could be, but she was afraid of him nonetheless. She figured Kestrelpaw probably would go along quietly - or at least she hoped so. If she didn't, Rainstorm wouldn't know what to do. She was already lost, completely confused.

Nightpaw narrowed his eyes at Kestrelpaw, remembering her and Foxpaw that day... Then, as Rainstorm spoke, he looked back at her. The quick learning aprpetnice followed swiftly on his long, lanky legs. He gave no notice of the other she-cat aprpetnice as he passed her, pretending that he was the real aprpentice here! We should patrol the ShadowClan boarder. He said. He didn't add why he thought they should. But it was becasue he was really a ShadowCLan cat, and sometimes he hoped he would find his father. Shaking those thoughts away, he grumbled to himself. You know your father is most likely dead! Or he didn't want you. Why would he give you to an enemy Clan? He hissed at himself, handsome red pelt seeming to gleam in his anger at the father he had never met. He instead turned to Kestrelpaw COme on, will ya? His tone was neither angry or happy, jsut emotionless.

Kestrelpaw looked up at her frightned mentor with two big round silver eyes. They narrowed as she turned her gaze back to Nightpaw. She wished her gray mentor would stand up for herself more towards the red apprentice. Because thats all he was, an apprentice! Cats that made her angry didn't make her scared, instead she fuled her courage on her anger, where as if say something jumped out on her by surprise she would be halfway up the nearest tree in seconds. She frowned at Nightpaw once again as he decided for them all that they would patrol the Shadowclan border. She stopped as he said it. Her fluffy tail fluffed up more, her silver eyes widened and her razor claws putrded from her light tabby paws. "Why Shadowclan? "She hissed chalangingly. "Rainstorm is the warrior here, she is the one taking the session. She should decide!!" Anger burned her eyes and every hair along her back stood on end.
