Brackentail nodded and then grinned. 'Some might say too much. But they're just about the only ones that don't rebuke me for being happy all the time. Anyway, what's bad about it? You can't trust StarClan too much I say.' He looked at Brownpelt with a smile and shifted into a more comfortable sitting position. 'So what do you look to for answers in bad times if not StarClan?' He put his head to the side curiously. He thought it strange for any cat not to believe whole-heartedly in StarClan, his mother had taught him to believe and he always had since. He watched Brownpelt quietly, waiting for her answer.

Brownpelt gave him a small nudge. "When I'm in trouble.. I sometimes look to StarClan, trying to find my father... he was always so good at advice... but most of the time.. I think about what Ghost would've done." It was true she admired her brother more than life itself. He was her support and friend, the only one.

Brackentail nodded. 'Ghost is your brother right?' He nodded again, as if answering the question for himself. 'You're lucky to be so close to all of your family. I wish I could be more close to my father. He's was a good father, and still would be, I would like to please him, but not if it means changing who I am.' Brackentail sighed and shook himself again. He licked his chest fur and gazed out into the forest, remembering the first time he had sat guard over the camp, his silent vigil. It had been very hard for him not to talk, being naturally a talkative cat.

"Ghost was my brother yes... Forestpaw here. He was a good, strong apprentice... everyone saw so much hope in him... everyone knew he'd be a leader one day. But alas, it never happened." She sighed, almost to herself in admiration of her brother, but pity of the past. "Any siblings? I was close to my parents, but my mom was more understanding." But I admire my dad more...

Brackentail smiled. 'Yeah, I have two brothers. One was killed in battle though and the other is like my dad, he doesn't see what there is to be unserious about with being a warrior.' He shook his head in frustration, 'He pays me as little attention as all the other cats around here. No one understands me so I walk my own path most of the time. I was surprised that they asked me to go on patrol, well actually I asked to. I was tired of being left behind just 'cause I'm different, so when they asked for patrol volenteers the other day I said that I'd go. You should'a seen the looks on their faces, but they couldn't just say 'no' to my face. Anyway, there wasn't anyone else that could'a gone.' He grinned and chuckled a little at the rememberance. 'Yeah, I usually am sent on solo hunting duties, or sometimes I get to gaurd the camp, though not very often, ever since the time I woke everyone up when I got too carried away playing that I let out my battle cry.' he frowned. 'I got in a good bit of trouble for that.'

Brownpelt gave him a soft sigh, letting him know how she felt. Although she had only had one sibling, she knew what it was like to lose family, especially someone close, as she had been to Ghost. "I'm sorry about that... and I don't see anything that different about you.. you're just a 'daydreamer' as my dad called them. Someone with great expectations and a happy life." Of course, he had insulted them afterwards, but she wasn't going to add that part.

Brackentail shrugged. 'That's what I say. I'm just like them, I'm a cat, I'm a warrior, I'm a clanner, I have a heart like everyone else that wants to be loved by parents. But they don't get it. It's like I'm some diseased loner that no body wants to be around, they just don't understand. Really, it gets annoying at times.' he grinned and twitched his tail as he remembered how much he had thought of saying to his father and brother but never had, and it was probably good that he hadn't either. He smiled at Brownpelt, she seemed to understand more than any of the other warriors, who always looked down on him because of his happy-go-lucky nature.

Brownpelt only gave him a sympathetic look. She was never sure what to say in these situations. She had had a strict family, strict teaching. No silliness was allowed... except for Ghost, who managed to survive. But he was still always the one giving Brownpelt advice, and she would be the confused one, being all alone. "I'm not sure what to tell you. Don't worry about them. Be the best warrior you can, no matter what."

Brackentail smiled and nodded. 'Yup, I try to be a good warrior anyway. I hope that I do a pretty good job at it.' He tapped his tail on the ground. 'You seem to be a good warrior, you're what my dad would like me to be like, serious, smart.' He sighed, he never had been the smartest cat, and his dad had wanted a clever kit, a very clever kit. Oh well, it didn't matter now, nothing could be done to change who he was.
