Pyran was sleeping in a hollowed-out log, his lithe black shape twisting and turning fitfully. His chest moved up and down rappidly as he griped for air, air that he couldn't seem to get enough of. His eyes were clenched shut tightly, his fur spiked out. He writhed as though in pain, his legs stretched out and claws digging into the earth. His jaws were parted as he tried to cry out but couldn't. His pale silver collar seemed to be glowing with a ghostly light.
//Pyran gasped as he was thrown accross the ground, his blood leaving a streak accross the pavement. There was a massive cut in his gut, as though some creature had just decided to try eating him alive. It hurt like nothing else! Burning fire ran through his shaking body, while his limbs had already gone numb from the bloodloss. He looked up in terror at the she-cat standing over him, she almost as bloody as he was. She had only one eye, the other apparently ripped from her face by Pyran's claws. And her right foreleg...also ripped away. Tattered ear, several scars. She should be dead by now! She would be dead soon, even, but she was taking Pyran down with her.
Pyran trembled. "Aira..." That was all he could manage. Amidst all his confusion he knew he couldnt' blame her. For some reason he just knew he deserved to die. Her single blue eye was cold and it was the last thing he saw before he slipped into the darkness. Gone.//
Pyran gasped and leaped to his paws, his tail fluffed out as he panted for breath, eyes wide and terrified. It took him a full thirty seconds for him to realize where he was, looking around frantically. At last he lowered his head, looking downright miserable, his ears flattened.

Dawn slept next to Pyran, peacefully for some time, breathing heavily, in a good slumber. Suddenly, she felt kicking and clawing. She rolled a bit away, and fell right back to sleep, dreaming of a juicy mouse. Suddenly, her eyes snapped open as she heard a cat jump up. Her eyes widened, and she stumbled to her paws, ready to attack whatever it was. She blinked the sleep from her eyes, and her amber eyes stared into the darkness, that was barely bathed in dim moonlight. Dawn flexed her claws. But then she realized it had only been Pyran. She watched him closely; he was peering around like a mad cat.
Is he going into one of his stages? she wondered, becoming more alert, and tensed.
"Pyran, what's wrong?" she called out to him, ready to run. Dawn trusted him, and in her trust she would listen to his orders. If he ever seemed strange to run away, and escape. Dawn still didn't know why, but it had become a new way of life for her- freedom, but with increased security and alertness.

Pyran snapped his head towards her like she was a creature from beyond and at first he lept backwards, back arched up. But his senses came back to him like a splash of cold water and he managed to hold back a hiss.
He was shaking, though, lowering his head again and closing his eyes. "I...I think she killed me, Dawnpaw... Or almost. She must have. I felt everything slip away...yet here I am." Nevermind that Dawn wouldn't have a clue what he was saying. Pyran had to keep talking, had to get this straight. "I was in a city...we were. How'd I end up here then? Why can't I remember?!" He growled in frustration, his claws flexing again. "Why...why did she try to kill me?"
He had loved her, that much Pyran remembered. Dreams had come to him often, dreams of a white she-cat with blue eyes that stared admiringly at him. They were in love. Deeply so. Why would she try to kill him? What had caused that fight to break out? He didn't understand...

Dawn tried to make sense of his words, though she couldn't possibly. She scented him thoroughly a minute, making sure he was still normal. Pyran had told her that he could be quite cunning in his attacks, and she had never taken those words for granted. She decided he was fine, and padded over, daring to lean against him, letting her fur touch his. "I don't know Pyran. But this is a good sign. The more you dream, the more you will understand... little pieces of information will fly at you. Try to retain it, and someday, it will all fit." Though Dawn was experiencing a new feeling. He had mentioned a She-cat. Why would he dream of a she-cat? Dawn could sense he was not saying something else, but she didn't press it.

Pyran's fur immediately spiked out more as Dawn touched him. He shivered and glared up at her. "What if I don't want to know?" he asked softly. Then he sighed and shook his head. "No...don't listen to me. I'm just confused. I think I'm...gonna go for a walk." He straightened and started to walk forward towards the end of the log--Pyran did this a lot. He never stayed for long. Dawn was a comfort, yes, but in a way she was also a torment. Her blood unspilled, so crystal clear to his unnatural senses.

Dawn didn't know quite what to make of Pyran's prickling fur, but the next moment, he was leaving her side. She got to her paws, wondering more and more about him. She hadn't learned much about him... he was still a mysterious figure to her, even after the past few days of staying in this territory. She let a small sigh escape her maw, as Pyran began to leave. Dawn knew he could never settle down... he was a wanderer. But that didn't make it any better.
"Do you want to be alone?" she asked, voice full of uncertaincy. She wanted to come with him. But Dawn wasn't sure he wanted company right now.

((Sorry it took me so long to reply, I've been busy.))
Pyran stopped, his white-tipped tail flicking slightly as he looked back at her. ..."You can come," he said at last. As long as his mind concentrated on walking, on breathing, maybe he would be able to enjoy her company more. "Come on." He managed a strange smirk and gestured with a jerk of his head, his ears starting to raise again from how they were almost always plastered against his head.

Dawn marveled at Pyran's ability to switch moods so quickly, but she was glad of it. She walked forward in an easy gait, and stepped out into the dim rays of the sun. It wasn't visible yet, but the rays were faintly lighting the sky, making the clouds look stunningly beautiful. She craned her neck, and gave him a smile. "It's nice right now." she said lightly, and a tiny breeze rolled through. This had always been Dawn's favorite time of day. "Let's head north, to the small stream." she said, more of a suggestion than a statement.

Pyran could only nod, his eyes fixed on her without really seeing. As though he were looking at something else that only he could see. Another she-cat, white fur, and blood.
Another shiver ran down his spine and Pyran looked away quickly, steeling himself as he took a sharp breath, focusing his thoughts on just walking and breathing. Pyran already had an unnatural sense of ballance, even for a cat, and he could practically glide when he wanted to. He concentrated on that now, and on his breath steady and calm. Slowly his muscles untensed and he was able to look around at the landscape with a measure of appreciation. Morning birds were calling to him, but he ignored them, oblivious. He did't care, despite the ravenous hunger that always plagued the back of his mind. For now he was content to listen, to appreciate a breeze ruffling his fur and the soft grass under his black-padded paws. His sharp senses could already smell the fresh water of the still distant stream. Pyran's sense of smell and hearing were outstanding, and it somewhat made up for the way his body often felt numb, as though his nerves simply stopped working. Yes, Dawn was right. Pyran was afraid of his past, but he was curious as to how he had become so...unnatural. He would have to remember, put everything back together some day. Find out the truth.
"How's being a loner, eh Dawn? You sick of it yet? Gonna go begging back to yer clan like a house cat that's run from home?" he mewed teasingly.
