Patchpaw lifted his grey head and slowly sniffed the air. He longed to find out about his heritage. He flicked his long grey tail and searched around silently, before THUD. He cursed himself silently for snapping a twig. He growled at himself before he pricked his ears, waiting for any signs of life.
Was he stupid enough to believe his neighbours that his family lived in this very forest? He shook his head, too late for that now.

A gray tabby who bore a white chest and paws was out hunting. Featherfoot held his long tail close to the ground as he crept nearer to his prey, a mouse. He was just about to pounce when his ear caught the snap of a twig. The mouse's ear must have caught it too for it made a run for it. Featherfoot growled a little as he leapt forward, hoping to be able to catch the mouse, but caught only a pile of leaves. He sneezed lightly before picking himself up and swiveling his ears in the direction that he had heard the twig snap. He lowered himself nearer to the ground and crawled closer, sniffing carefully he caught the scent of another cat. He growled slightly as he stood up from his crouch and began to run after the scent. He was as protective as any cat was of his territory, perhaps more so. He wished that he could get a better taste of the intruder, the wind was tricky today and wouldn't blow the way he wanted it to.

Patchpaw raised his head slightly and looked over his shoulder, he was sure he heard something over that way. He shook his head again, a small smile on his maw. His mind must have been playing tricks. He twitched his tail again and delved deeper into the forest, his eyes always alert for something strange. The wind suddenly washed over his ears and face, bringing a scent towards him. Another cat? "Hello?" Patchpaw called out foolishly.

Featherfoot raised his head as the cat called out. Must be a kittypet or something to be that mousebrained. he growled to himself. He tasted the air again and nodded to find that he was right. He glanced through some of the bushes and caught sight of Patchpaw. He leaped out at him with a growl. 'Hello.' he hissed with his ears laid flat back. He didn't like trespassers, but he knew that he would never hurt a cat so much smaller and younger than him. He always seemed harsh and vicious but he would never hurt a young kittypet who couldn't defend themselves.

Patchpaw threw himself backwards and flattened his ears against his skull instinctively. He looked at the tom for a moment before he straightened up. "Ermmm.... Hello," he said softly. He twitched his tail, his bright eyes watching the tom. Even for a kittypet, he was quite thin and lean. He gazed at the tom for a moment, unsure of what to do.

Featherfoot sat still, and his ears went up for a moment in interest. He had expected the young cat to run. He sniffed at him again to be sure he was a kittypet and then laid his ears back again. 'What is your name and what are you doing on ShadowClan territory? he growled. He twitched his whiskers and besides his hostile tone, showed no intention of attacking. He sat down, with a thump and stared at Patchpaw with gaurded curiousity.

"My owners call me Cairo, but to you, i'd be Patchpaw," he said boldly. He twitched his grey tail and stood up a little straighter, his ears perking slowly. "I am looking for my mother," he added to the grey tom. He watched Featherfoot curiously, he could tell he was in no immediate danger but was curious of these feral cats.

Featherfoot put his head to the side, wondering how this kittypet knew about the clan cats. 'Really. What's your mother's name then? Patchpaw?' He loosened up a little and perked his ears up. He was genuinely curious now, a kittypet looking for its parents in the forest? That confused him. He twitched his tail quietly, quite interested in what the young cat was saying.

"I-I don't know her name. I could describe her to you, if you like?" Patchpaw meowed. He flicked his tail and smiled at the tom. He knew he was in no immediate danger, but he didn't want to anger the tom by being hostile.

Featherfoot shrugged and then nodded. 'Yeah, go ahead and do that.' he listened quietly for his reply, wondering why this kittypet would have a clan or maybe loner mother. He shook his head, trying to focus on what Patchpaw was saying, trying to stay alert. He was still curious, probably even more so. He swiveled his ear around, wondering if there were any other cats around, but he couldn't sense any so he dismissed the thought.

"Well, she is a tortoise shell cat. Her pelt is a mixture of brown and tan, maybe a bt of red too..." he began softly. "She has strange eyes, sort of green and yellow. But strangest of all she has one white whisker and all the others were brown," he said, his voice slightly stronger. He wrapped his thick tail around his paws as he watched the tom for a reaction. But how was he, Patchpaw supposed to know that he was describing the ThunderClan leader?

Featherfoot stared at Patchpaw with widened eyes for a moment. That, that sounds just like... 'Maybe you should come with me Patchpaw, back to my clan.' He was somewhat shaken at what Patchpaw had said. It must be a mistake, another cat right? He found it hard to belive that the ThunderClan leader, Autumnstar, could have a kittypet son. Featherfoot looked at Patchpaw, waiting for his reply. H tried not to show any surprise or recognition, but he knew that he had let a little at least leak out into his face and eyes.

Patchpaw's gaze hardened slightly. "What aren't you telling me?" he meowed softly. He twitched his tail and looked at the tom with wide eyes. The same eyes he had described to him earlier. Yellow and green eyes. His mother's eyes. He sighed and nodded at Featherfoot. "I'll come, but tell me one thing. Is she dead?" he whispered.

Featherfoot smiled slightly. ' Don't get your hopes up, I'm not sure that the cat I have in mind even is your mother. But no, the cat I thought of for a moment is not dead.' He stood and started off at a lope towards ShadowClan territory, mind racinf furiously. He was trying hard to convince himself that it was a different cat that was Patchpaw's mother. He glanced behind him to see how Patchpaw was getting on. He twitched his ears, listening for any other nearby cats, wondering if there was a patrol nearby. [{I say, do you mind if I bring one of my other cats in? There was a couple I wanted to try out. It's fine if you would rather not though. }]

[Bring 'em all in! ^^]
Patchpaw nodded silently, his eyes dimming slightly. He twitched his tail and sniffed hard, there was something that the grey warrior wasn't telling him. He flicked his tail dismissively and followed the tom in a fast past.
