Laurelkit was feeling bored. She had been cooped up in the Nursery for what seemed like ages now, and she wanted to get out. As she got more and more frustrated, the more and more she wanted to play. And Larchkit was just... sitting like a good little kit washing herself. "Larchkit," complained Laurelkit, "Can't we please go out? I won't get us stuck in the Nursery again, I promise." Larchkit looked over at her. "That's what you said last time," replied Larchkit. "I don't want to have to get in trouble again." Laurelkit heaved a great sigh and continued her pacing. ~*~*~ Larchkit surveyed her sister. She understood Laurelkit's need to go out and explore, but she also knew that if they wanted to become apprentice's it would be best that they stayed in the Nursery. "Do you want me to tell you a story?" she asked Laurelkit. Larchkit had inherited her mother's gift for storytelling, and normally that could calm her sister down... for a while. ~*~*~ "You mean there's actually one I haven't heard yet?" asked Laurelkit in amazement. "I though I knew every one of them!" Forgetting her frustration, Laurelkit sat down in front of her sister. "Go ahead," she said. ~*~*~ Larchkit let out a relieved sigh. At least now Laurelkit woudn't be annoying her to death. Better make this a good one, Larch, she told herself silently. "Once there were two young warriors, named Fireheart and Graystripe..." she began.

Smallkit came pensively out of the nursery, the tip of his tail twitching. It seamed that every time he ventured out of the nursery, it lead to trouble. First there was the gathering, then Fadedglory at Tallpines... but Autumnstar didn't know about that yet. Neither did Smallkit plan on telling her. It was one thing they could both do without.
The tom padded forward more confidently, taking a spot next to Laurelkit. He began to groom his short tabby fur, listening in on Larchkit's story.

Pausing when Smallkit joined her and Laurelkit, Larchkit nodded politely to him. "Smallkit," she mewed. Turning her attention back to the story, Larchkit continued... "One day Fireheart and Graystripe were caught hunting for RiverClan. When Bluestar found out, she..."~*~*~ Laurelkit found her attention wandering. She had heard this story before, and she didn't really feel like sitting and listening to it again. Tilting her head towrads Smallkit, she whispered in his ear, "Have you been out of camp recently?"

"Not since the gathering", Smallkit lied. He wasn't going the reveal his recently exploration to anyone. He turned his attention back to Larchkit. The story seemed strangely familiar. I must have heard it when I was very young, Smallkit decided. However, he couldn't remember the ending. Might as well listen he thought to himself.

Laurelkit looked in disappointment at Smallkit. Not been out since the Gathering! she thought to herself. Amazing! Since she didn't have anything else to do, Laurelkit turned back to her sister, splaying herself out in an attitude of extreme boredom.~*~*~ "Bluestar was angry, but understood RiverClan's need for food. Despite her deputy's, Tigerfur's, suggestions about what to do with Fireheart and Graystripe, she only forbid them to go onto RiverClan territory and demoted them in rank. Fireheart and Graystripe were apprentices, and though cats tried to call them 'Firepaw' and 'Graypaw', they didn't let them. They were warriors, and no matter how low in rank they got, nothing would ever change that."
