Spottedstar slipped out of her leader's den, her spotted pelt shining in the sunlight. The Windclan leader leaped neatly onto the hill used to hold meetings, sitting down and curling her tail around her dappled paws. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather around for a clan meeting!" she called. It was time for the apprentice to receive their official mentors.
Birchfur appeared at the entrance of the warrior's den, shivering slightly in excitement. Spottedstar had told him earlier that he was to have his first apprentice today. The young warrior padded out and sat half way down, not wanting to draw attention to himself.
Lillypaw made her way out of Snowshoe's den, feeling exited for the apprentice who were taking part in this ceremony. She settled down near the front, wanting to get a good view of everything.

Ashpelt's black grey striped form appeared from the shadows of the forest. She trotted over to the kill pile and deposited a mouse before hurrying over to high rock. She sat down and curled her tail daintily around her paws, looking up at Spottedstar with a smile on her face, wondering who would get the honor of having an apprentice.
Quickpaw, Tigerpaw, and Brownpaw all ran out together to high rock, bumping each other and calling out who they thought might loose the race. When they finally got there they were panting but happy. They giggled and whispered for a little and then they turned there eyes expectantly to their leader, impatient for the ceremony to start so that they could have mentors and TRAIN! The thought brought huge grins to their faces. The short haired orange tabby, Tigerpaw, was visibly shaking in delight, while his almost identical sister Quickpaw, whose fur was longer than his, sat still but showed her excitement by her gleaming eyes. Brownpaw, a brown tom, looked quite excited, but down inside he was dreading being appointed to a mentor, what if his secret got out that he was blind? What if he let his mentor down? He shivered as a little fear creapt into his eyes.
Badgerpaw followed more slowly behind the bouncy apprentices. She sat solumnly down and raised her head to watch her leader, and wait to be given a mentor. She showed no excitement, but deep inside she was just as excited as the other apprentices. She rarely showed how she felt and she showed no intention of changing now. If one watched closely they could see the slightest quiver in her white pelt as she twitched her grey ears and wrapped her grey tail around her paws.
Featherflight trotted happily out to high rock. He couldn't wait to see who got apprentices and he couldn't help but harbor the hope that he would be given one also. His white pelt gleamed in the sun, making his black stripes stand out very well.

Northerndancer's timid stride carried her frame to the meeting place. She looked around for a few minutes, contemplating what the meeting was about. Her wandering orbs spotted the apprentices of the clan, bounding about. She almost gave a small chuckle, as she lowered her haunches to the ground.
Unlike most cats, she would not think of her own Apprentice Ceremony. Oh no; she never thought about her past.... because with it came the familiar pain.
Her eyes moved up to Spottedstar, and studied the leader for a fleeting moment. It was not a challenging look she gave, but one with no emotion.
Then the deathly silent femme dropped her gaze to her paws, where it would remain until the start of the ceremony. And even then, her heart would not be present.
StarClan, the last thing I need is an apprentice. Spottedstar cannot choose me. Northerndancer thought silently, but gave none of this away.

Goldenmoon came bounding under the hill and stared up at her leader with open curiousity. She licked her orange forepaw gently, rubbing all the dirt off of it. Looking around, she noticed Leopardpaw sitting beside her. "Hello!" She said. "Hello! Ya think Im gonna get my mentor today?" The brown she-cat asked happily. "I don't know." Answered Goldenmoon. "Me, neither!" Leopardpaw smiled and ran off to join the other apprentices. Goldenmoon watched the apprentice go, then turned and chuckled, resuming her gaze to Spottedstar.

Tunderpaw ran to the leader. he knew something important was aboput to happen. (srry it short)

Icestorm padded out of the warrior's den. She sat down next to Thunderpaw. She looked at Spottedstar with her one eye. Getting an apprentice was what she had always wanted. Now was her chance to train one! She watched the kits that would be becoming apprentices. She quivered with exitement.

Windfleet padded out of the warrior's den, eyes flashing murderously. Spottedstar had woken her from a nap, and, though the deputy had no objection normally to be woken, today she was exhausted. She had stayed up all night running the territory- something she did to relieve herself of stress. And stress there was. But right now she had to attend the meeting... pushing her way through the cats so she could reach the front, Windfleet sat just behind the first 'row.' Curling her tail around her paws, she sat and tried to be attentive, though every bone in her body ached for sleep.

"Today our apprentices will all receive mentors", meowed Spottedstar from her place on the leader's slope. Her gaze fell on the group of apprentices at the front. She beckoned them forward with her tail.
Her voice rang out again. "Windfleet, you are a deputy of great skill and patience currently without an apprentice. You will mentor Tigerpaw.
Ashpelt, a warrior of great experience, will mentor Thunderpaw.
Featherflight, you are easygoing and ready for an apprentice. You will mentor Leopardpaw.
Icestorm, you are also ready for an apprentice. You are Quickpaw's mentor.
Birchfur, you are young, but have what it takes to train an apprentice. You will mentor Brownpaw.
And as for Badgerpaw, she continued, "I will be your mentor."

Birchfur felt his heart swell with pride. He pushed his way forward to the front of the crowd where to Brownpaw, lowing his head to touch noses with his apprentice.

Spottedstar leaped down and scanned her clan for Badgerpaw. She had taken a liking to the quiet young she-cat, and hoped that having the clan leader as her mentor would would bring Badgerpaw out of her shell a bit. The Bengal she-cat took a few paces forward to where her new apprentice was sitting.

Lillypaw watched the ceremony with a smile on her face, happy for the other apprentices. They all had great mentors. The medicine cat apprentice wasn't disappointed that she wasn't receiving a mentor with them now. She wouldn't swap her life as Snowshoe's apprentice for anything.

Icestorm swelled with pride. Her first apprentice! She went up to touch noses with Quickpaw.
"I will do my best as a mentor to you."she whispered. Even though she had lost one of her eyes, she knew she had what it took to mentor this apprentice.

Quickpaw bounced happily up to touch noses with her mentor. 'I can't wait to start!' She sqeaked excitedly, green eyes dancing with happiness and glee. She was all a flutter, wondering when she was going to start her training, what the first thing she was going to be taught was, she just couldn't wait to start.
Brownpaw twitched his nose and ears, hearing a cat approach him. He got to his paws hurriedly, knowing by the scent that it was Birchfur, his new mentor. He forced up a quick smile, making it look quite real. He raised his head to touch noses with him, but ended up bumping into his mentor's nose a little hard. 'Oops, sorry.' His smile wobbled for a moment. 'When do we start?' He asked curiously.
Badgerpaw looked up in surprise when she heard who her mentor was going to be. She glanced at the other apprentices and then back at Spottedstar. Seeing her coming over she got to her paws and smiled shyly. My mentor is the leader?! She gulped, but raised her nose to meet her mentor's.
Featherflight rose to his paws, excitedly tripping over to Leopardpaw. He lowered his head to touch noses. 'I'm sure we're going to get along just great.' He said with a grin. He couldn't wait to start, though he was a little nervous about maybe messing up or doing something mouse-brained. He shoved those thoughts away roughly, he wasn't going to let that bring him down now.
Ashpelt raised her dark head as she heard her name be called. Thunderpaw? She said to herself, she didn't know him too well, but oh well, she would know him better than most soon. With a smiled she started over to him and bent her head down. 'I'll do all I can to make you a great warrior.' She whispered happily to him.

Windfleet padded over to Tigerpaw, her eyes shining gently as she looked at her new apprentice. "Congratulations, Tigerpaw," she murmered softly to him, reaching down to touch noses with him. "I will teach you everything I know."

Tigerpaw grinned and bounced up to meet noses with his mentor. He was excited to have a mentor at last, and couldn't wait to start learning things. Everything! He told himself. It sounded great to him, even though it also sounded like a lot of work. Right now nothing could dampen his spirits, nothing.

Birchfur smiled down at Brownpaw. "We can start training whenever you want", he meowed in reply. "Is dawn tomorrow okay with you?"

Spottedstar withdrew her nose from Badgerpaw's, sitting down next to her new apprentice. "I can tell that you're nervous", she said with a smile. "Don't worry; your apprenticeship won't be any different because I'm your mentor." She touched Badgerpaw's flank with her tail-tip. "I can see that you're going to be a great warrior."

Brownpaw grinned and nodded. 'That sounds great to me!' He purred happily. He was excited about learning more, but he was still nervous. At this moment now excitement was taking more hold of him than the icy fear that gripped him most of the time he was around other cats.
Badgerpaw smiled. 'Thank you Spottedstar.' She meowed. She was just as eager to begin as any of the apprentice's, but she just prefered not to show it as vehemently as some. Her green eyes sparkled though, showing that she was indeed happier than her body language showed.

Thunderpaw looked up at his mentor. His tiger-stirped pelt rippled. He was so happy right now! "Ashpelt, what will we do first?" he meowed.
