Blizzardsnow padded through the trees, every now and then almost running into a tree and cursing himself under his breath. He parted his jaws to taste the air. There was a strong smell of vole, but somehow Blizzardsnow almost missed it. He cursed himself under his breath again for not sleeping the night before. He saw the vole about a tail length away. He stepped on a twig and it snapped, alerting the vole and all they other prey from there to four trees.
He climbed the tallest tree he could find and clawed his away up to where the branches swayed under his weight. He sighed and looked around. A breeze passed him, and he closed his eyes, lost deep in thought. He thought about his father and how clearly he could remember him. It seemed only yesterday that his father killed his litter mates and him mother, and Blizzardsnow still remembered that sinister look on his face as he vanished from Blizzardsnow's life forever.

Crystalpaw padded through the undergrowth. She wasn't very helpful in camp, so she decided to look for herbs. They had plenty, but they didn't know when they might have an outbreak of illness. Besides, she wanted to test her herb knowledge. She walked close to where Blizzardsnow was standing. She smelled his scent. Crystalpaw walked over to him. "Hello!"she mewed.

Blizzardsnow looked down at her from his spot on the branch with that same blank face, only this time his eyes betrayed his sorrow this time. "Hello." He choked out. Blizzardsnow was surprised at the fact that his voice also betrayed his normally emotionless self.
He shook his head to clear it and tried to climb down the tree, only to fall from the top of it. He landed painfully on his head, becoming even more dizzy. He swiped at the ground, leaving three claw marks in the ground. He wouldn't normally have come down, but she was the medicine cat apprentice, and even though he was older than her, he still needed to show respect toward her.

Crystalpaw ran over to the warrior. "Blizzardsnow, are you hurt?" Her eyes were filled with concern. "Are you in much pain?" she asked. It was her duty as medicine cat apprentice to care for her clan mates. She hoped he wasn't injured seriously.

"Ah...It's nothing....I just didn't sleep well last night..." Blizzardsnow wasn't used to saying that much and was a little nervous having someone worry about him that much. He let out a small hiss of annoyance and he almost fell over again and swiped at the dirt.

"Are you sure?"Crystalpaw asked."After all I AM a medicine cat apprentice. That's what I'm here for." She looked at Blizzardsnow. "Is there any particular reason you didn't sleep well last night? Were you feeling sick? Could you breath clearly. Did you ache all over?" she asked.

"I just...Do you know how...my father killed my mother...when I was a kit?" Blizzardsnow choked out. He hated talking about it, it only brought back the pain of knowing that he was couldn't help his mother. Blizzardsnow looked down at the ground, as if trying to burn a hole into the dirt.

Crystalpaw's eyes went wide. "I never knew that happened. I wasn't born then. I am sorry."she said. She walked up to Blizzardsnow and touched her nose to his muzzle comfortingly. "She is watching you in star clan right now. She hasn't truly left you."

"I know. It's probably the only thing that keeps me going, but some nights I can't stop thinking about her." Blizzardsnow sighed. "My father was never caught. I still can't forget the cruel smile he gave me as he ran off. It still haunts my dreams." Blizzardsnow surprized himself by how much he was talking. He normally kept to himself.

Crystalpaw looked at him fondly. She loved all her clan mates, and hated to see them distressed. "If you need someone to talk to, I'm here." she mewed. Then she walked off in surch of herbs. "I'm here to help."

Blizzardsnow smiled for a second, before his face hardened into that same expressionless look. He was never going to tell anyone about what happened, he decided. He sighed and walked off, deciding to go try his luck at hunting again.
