Darwater, a fifteen mooned old RiverCLan warrior, padded along the Shimmering Stream. He had told Icepaw to meet him here after breakfast for some training. Right now, while he waited for his apprentice, he would think about what he would trian Icepaw. Either hutning or fighting. The tom scarched himself wiht his hind leg, like a dog, and looked around. Giving up, he looked into the strem. At first, when h elooked in, he saw his reflection. Then, his amber eyes became red and blood dripped form his muzzel. Darkwind! He leadped up, expecting the loner to be right behind him, but it was only his imgaination. OR was it his mother, Raven, warning him of soemthing? Darkwater was afreiad to find out.

"Huh? What's the matter Darkwater?" Icepaw stepped out of some undergrowth and shook some leaves from his pelt. He padded up to his mentor, his whiskers quivering from excitement. He wondered what Darkwater would teach him today.

The gray warrior gasped as his apprentice appered out of nowhere. He setteled down, though, when he saw the familiar figure of Icepaw approch him. Nothing you need to worry about, Icepaw. Now, about your training! WHy not start by showing me what you know about fighting? HE said. He wante dto know what teh tom-cat befor ehim knew befoer he started trianing!

"Well, I don't know anything about fighting, other than the play fights from when I was a kit, and that's still not much. I'm better at finding prey. When I was still in that twoleg nest, I always listened to the birds and could easily find them in the bushes or in a tree."Icepaw hoped that he wouldn't be kept from becoming a warrior if he wasn't good at fighting. It was true that he was better at hunting. He even had already caught his first prey.

Darkwater closed his eyes. Not know how to fight? How would Icepaw help protect his kits frm Darkwind if he couldn't fight? THEn he stoppe dthose thoughts. Wel we better get started with those "play fights" then, shouldn't we? Why don't I explain one atacke a day, then we work on it untill you get it? Tomarrow we will do a littel hunting, perhaps. He said. Gray pelt shivered as something moved in the bushs, he felt like he was being watched. Wa sit jsut him, or was there red eye sin teh bush over tehre? A gry pelt that resembled his in that tree? All around him, Darkwater felt ambushed. But he hoped it was his imagination.

"Okay." Icepaw could tell that his mentor was a little uneasy. "Are you sure you're okay? You seem a little... uneasy." He eyed Darkwater, trying to find out what was making him seem off the edge. He glanced around the clearing for a moment before looking at Darkwater again.

Darkwater shook his head. I am fine! Now, let's get on iwth your taining! Satrt by trying to attcke me. HE said / No claws, mind you! We don't want any accidents! HE added as he croched down, preparing himself for ICepaw's attempt at an attacke. He liked to teach by example, so he figured this wouild help Icepaw learn teh fastest if he showed him step by step how to battle.

"Okay." Icepaw sighed. He knew that something was wrong with Darkwater, but he had no idea what that 'something' was.
He cleared his head and ran at him in a zigzag in an attept to get Darkwater by surprise. When he was a tail length away, he used his hind legs to launch himself into the air above his mentor. He landed behind him, already turned around to attack. He batted at Darkwater, hoping that he had caught him by surprise.

The warrior watched his appretntice zig zag towards him, but he wasn't worried. He followed with amber eyes as the apprentice flew above him. THen, just as Icepaw lunged, he leaped forwards. He pushed off a treee trunk with his hind legs and aimed rgith for Icepaw's back, landing on him.

"Oof." As soon as Icepaw hit the ground, he turned over and started batting at Darkwater's stomache, claws still sheathed. He didn't want to lose, even though it was only training. He wanted to proved that his kittypet roots meant nothing to him, and that he could be as good a warrior as anyone else.

Good! It is always good to get under your oppant and scartch their stomachs, but remmber not to stay udner them to long, or you could get squished! He warned, leaping off the appretnice and turning to face him. Also, try to unbalence them by nipping at their legs and kicking them out form under them. Try it now, on me, then follow with a belly scartch. He braced himself, folowing the cats moves.

((Sorry took me so long to reply, been busy))
Icepaw stood and nodded to show that he had been listening. He repeated his mentor's words in his head to make sure he understood before he faced Darkwater. He sprinted toward the other cat and nipped at first his right foreleg, then his right hind leg. He hesitated, waiting to see if it had worked to unbalance Darkwater.

The moment of hesitaion cost Icepaw. As the appretnice nipped at Darkwater's hind leg, the warrior lost his balance a little and the dark gray warrior collasped onto his appretnice. But, he sprang back up and sat, tail curled around his paws. "Icepaw, you must learn not to hesitate. In a real battle, I will not lie to you, that may have cost you your life." He spoke firmly to his apprentice. "Now, try again." Darkwater got up, amer eyes balzeing in curousty. What would his apprentice try this time? He flicked his ears forwards, making the white dot behind both of them clearly visable fom behind. "We won't stop untill you get it right, Icepaw, even if it takes all day!" Darkwater may be laid back and such, but when it came to trianing anf fighting, he went all out.
Although, some of the Clan were still afraid of him becuas ehe was, well, odd! Always looking up at the sky and talking to StarClan, but he wasn't really anything to be afirad of. Afterall, he wasn't his blood-thirty, lustful father Darkwind! Even thinking about him shot shivers up and down his spine.

"Okay. I'll try harder this time." Icepaw again ran toward Darkwater, but this time went to his mentor's left. Instead of nipping at his legs, Icepaw swung his paw around to try and sweep Darkwater's legs out from under him at the same time. Icepaw jumped back a little so that if it had worked, the warrior wouldn't fall on him.
The whole time, he was thinking that he would prove himself worthy of being a RiverClan cat. He wasn't some weak kittypet. He had long ago cut all connections with his old life with the twolegs when he joined RiverClan. He needed to be the best he could be so that everyone around him would know that. He wasn't stupid and soft, like his mother was, but instead a true Clan cat that would gladly give his life for his Clan, just like anyone else. He already knew the warrior code by heart, and he wouldn't ever break it unless it was for something really important. He was a loyal RiverClan cat, and he could prove it to anyone.

As his appretnice sped at him, Darkwater braced himself for an attacke to his right legs. He swung his head down, but had to draw back as Icepaw came to his left! He smiled, trying to regain his balance, and watched his apprentice jump back. The warrior felt himself leaning to the lef,t loosing his balence, so he ducked his shoulder down and rolled, a trick he had leaned as a kit. As he sprang back to his paws, his breath sped up a little, he beamed at his apprentice.
"Great job, Icepaw! Now, try something different added on to that. Instead of jumping back, go forwards and knocj out my back legs, too." He said, taking up his stance again. Since Icepaw had come at both the left and the right, he needed to be prepared. This time, he would try a counter-attcake to kind of spice things up. Grin parting his lips, he locked his amber eyes on Icepaw's eyes.
"This time, really think. Add some design to your atccke to make it your own." He flicked his tail from left to right, waiting for his apprentice to spring forwards.
