Tigerpaw shook himself, a little disappointed that he had missed Windfleet. ‘Uh, how big they are?’ He grinned mischeviously. He never had been a very quick thinker, that was his sister, but he would joke around quite often to try and cover up the fact that he didn’t know as much as his sister. He had more than once gotten on his sister’s nerves from being so slow witted but she had been working with him and so he had gotten slightly better than he had used to be. He flicked his tail and waited for Windfleet’s reaction.

Windfleet rolled her eyes, hiding a smile. "No, silly," she mewed. "It's not how big they are." she gazed at him, grinning. "But you're pretty close." she was silent for a moment. "Never pin down an opponent unless you have to. Try to not let yourself pin the other cat down before you've exchanged blows. Of course, you should know this already." she fixed him with a piercing look, as if to say 'Well, do you?' Without waiting for an answer, she continued. "But this is actually very important. Pinning your opponent down can win or lose the battle. If you pin down the cat you're fighting, what do you think will happen?"

Tigerpaw grinned. ‘They can wack ya in the face!’ He crouched over in a crazy giggly laugh. He sat up quickly though, but he still had a ill-concealed grin on his face. ‘If you pin someone else down then they’re at your mercy, but they can shove you off if they’re stronger though. I’ve done that before when Quickpaw pinned me down. She’s really annoying sometimes you know?’ He almost started to go into a story about how he and his sister had fought but cut it off, remembering that this was a training session, not a story session.

Windfleet felt a smile starting on her face. It had been a while since she had had an apprentice, and Tigerpaw was obviously one of the best. "Right," she mewed, ignoring the fact that he had started onto another topic. "So, lets try pinning each other down." With a swift move, she knocked her apprentice off his feet, and quickly put her paws onto his shoulder blades, thus pinning him. "Like that," she mewed, relinquishing her hold after a moment and stepping back. "But you can use any other method to unbalance the other cat." she waited until Tigerpaw had scrambled to his feet again. "Be sure to pin down a cat so that his belly is on the ground," she instructed him. "If you pin you opponent down on his back, you can inflict belly wounds, but they can, too. And its easier to get a neck hold if you pin him down on his belly." stepping back, she nodded. "Now, keeping all this in mind, pin me down."

Tigerpaw lowered his big body into a crouch. His tail twitched as his green eyes watched Windfleet. With a quick nod he ran for Windfleet, making it look as if he were going to try and shove her with his shoulder. At the last moment he went for her legs though, bowling into them at a fast pace and with his muscular body in his favor. He shoved out from under her and then jumped up quickly to get onto her back. 'Like that?' He inquired.

"Perfect." Windfleet managed to gasp out. "Now, could you get off me, please?" the young tom was heavy for his age, and Windfleet, unprepared, had gotten completely squashed. "Now," she continued once Tigerpaw had let her up, "There's another way. Instead of knocking your opponent off balance, you can creep up behind and jump on him/her, fastening your teeth into his/her scruff. This is a leap-and-hold technique. It enables you to inflict damage upon your opponent while staying out of harm's way yourself." As she watched Tigerpaw take this all in, she shook her head in disbelief. He was amazing. If she wasn't careful, he would learn everything there was to know today. Never had she had quite an apprentice like him, with his learning abilities... "Good. I think that I don't have to even demonstrate how to do the leap-and-hold technique for you. Try it. After that we'll call it a day and - if you want - go back to camp or (if you still have energy) practice hunting a bit. So-- the leap-and-hold technique!"

Tigerpaw scrambled off of Windfleet with a grin. 'That was fun.' Her purred, excited to be able to try this stuff out of Quickpaw. He scampered behind Windfleet happily and crouched, wiggling a little before pouncing. His aim was a little off he found, and he didn't his mentor square on the shoulders as he had wanted. He reached out with his head nonetheless, trying to get a grip on her scruff anyways. He didn't give up too easily, though he could become uninterested easily. He wasn't in any danger of not being interested at the moment though, he had a good mentor that was letting him to stuff and not just talking to him. That was one thing he couldn't stand, sitting and listening, though Quickpaw was a little better at that sort of thing than he himself.
