Sorrow smiled as Snowfall returned a lick. It felt good to have a friend that close. She wondered if her friend was hunrgy, after all she had gotten caught by rogues and then she probably had a good run trying to get away. 'Would you like some fresh kill? You must be hungry after all your excitement.' She smiled as her mind turned to her stash of food that she kept full all of the time so that she had food when ever she needed it, when it was rainy and she didn't want to hunt, or if she felt ill, or if she had a guest, she would still have food without having to run all over the place to get it.

"Ok", meowed Snowfall, considering it rude to decline. Anyway, she was hungry and appreciated the offer. "Just don't fish out something big. Nothing like that massive magpie you gave me last time!!" She purred with laughter as she remembered the black bird that Sorrow had given her on a previous visit. She hadn't been able to finish it. The white she-cat gave herself a stretch, her claws extending as she did so, digging into the branch. Snowfall sat up again and began to give herself a thorough grooming. She was surprised at how ruffled her fur was.

Sorrow smiled and let out an amused purr as she remembered Snowfall's last visit. As she trotted over to her stashing place she gave her diluted calico pelt to smooth it out. When she got to her stash she pushed some things around before selecting a plump sparrow for each her and Snowfall. She made her way back to Snowfall and dropped one of the sparrows at her paws before stretching out herself to nibble hers.

Snowfall purred her thanks as she began to eat the sparrow. It was a bit stringy, but very tasty. "How much food have you got in that store of yours?" she asked Sorrow, amused that she'd asked the question. At least it was one way to start a conversation. The white loner purred again, her gaze drifting to the landscape beyond the branches of her friend's leafy home. It seemed to go on and on forever; as if it could never end.

Snowshoe settled down with her sparrow. 'Well, quite a bit.' she chuckled. 'I always like to be prepared for anything and so I keep it pretty full. There's been more than once when I was glad that I had it. I also have a small store of herbs, not much to talk of but the basic stuff. I was sick once and was pretty glad that I had the stores since I didn't really have anyone to help me. The only bad thing about being alone, that and being lonely, and I didn't know that I was lonely until I met you.' She flicked her tail, a little surprised that she had said so much at one time, but then not, after all she was getting exremely used to being around Snowfall.

Snowfall ate her sparrow in silence, her thoughts always drifting to the events earlier in the day. Was Darkwind really prepared to kill just for the sake of it? She knew that she could never bring herself to kill. How could anyone be so cruel? she thought to herself. "Perhaps I should leave now", she meowed, half to herself and half to Sorrow.

Sorrow looked up from her bird. 'Aw, really?' She didn't much like the idea of her friend being alone when those dangerous rogues knew that she had a secret. She was mildly worried about herself, but more about Snowfall, what if something happened to her? Something always seemed to happen to those close to her and if Snowfall died she knew that she would sink even farther, too far to ever come back to real life. 'You can stay here if you want.' she offered, not really expecting Snowfall to take her up on the offer but feeling that she had to voice her offer anyway.

Snowfall looked up, a worried expression pasted all over her face. "Do you think I'm not safe?", she asked Sorrow, her gaze serious. "Do you think that I should stay with you? Would it make me any better off?" The loner looked down at her paws again, her eyes turning to slits in concentration. Was staying with her friend going to help both of them? But they don't know where I live, thought Snowfall. Not yet, anyway.

Sorrow shrugged. 'I don't know. They might not even know where you live but the trees are the safest place, no cat could guess that you lived up here. They wouldn't be able to track you if you are in the trees, but then again they might not even care that you got away.' She shuffled her paws. 'I might just be overreacting.' She flashed Snowfall a little smile. 'I've been known to do that quite often.' She chuckled, she had been one nervous and careful kit and apprentice. Even as a warrior she had been very cautious.

Snowfall tilted her head to one side, deep in thought. "They could know...." she murmured. "There's so many of them, and I've lived in that nest for seasons on end. All you need is one of them to have seen me and the whole gang knows." She remained silent for a few heartbeats. "I'll think about it", the loner meowed, "But for now I think I should go. I don't want to leave too much fresh scent around your place." She stood up and gave Sorrow a parting lick.

Sorrow sighed and nodded, returning the friendly carass with a smile that she tried not to look to nervous. 'Okay then, be careful and I'll see you some other time.' Voicing these words she felt a little more at ease and her smile became more natural. She was on her paws at this time, ready to watch her friend until she was out of sight.

"I'll see you soon Sorrow", Snowfall promised. With a last glance at her friend, she clawed her down the tree trunk. Taking a look at the surrounding territory, the she-cat began to walk in the direction of her two-leg nest. The loner's tail waved goodbye as she disappeared behind a lump of bracken. She quickly tasted the air, just to make sure that nobody was following her. With that, Snowfall bounded away; heading towards what she hoped was safety.
