Snowfall trotted out of the bare two-leg nest, stretching luxuriously as the sun warmed her frosty white pelt. The loner padded through the endless garden, sniffing at this at that. The scent of herbs danced around her, mixed with that of prey close buy. Instinctively, Snowfall lowered to a crouch, creeping up toward the scent. Grey eyes, tinted with blue spotted an unsuspecting mouse around the bend. Snowfall pounced, her eyes sining as her claws enclosed on the prey.
The she-cat purred in satisfaction, taking her catch to one of her favorite corners. She curled up under a rosemary bush and began to eat. Her thoughts wondered as she chewed. Perhaps Sorrow would visit her today. Maybe she wouldn't. Snowfall shrugged to herself, swallowing the last of her prey. Sighing contently, she curled up into a ball. Her eye-lids slowly shut, giving in to sleep.

Sorrow trotted down the hill, also enjoying the sun's warm rays. She was going to visit her friend, Snowfall. As she slipped quietly up to the house she tasted the air carefully, wondering if Snowfall was home. She smiled as she caught her scent and continued up to the house. She halted at the front of the old house where the door must have been and peeped in. She saw the white loner asleep and wondered if she should leave or wait until she woke up. After thinking for a minute or two she finally decided that it would be alright to sit and wait. She sat down near the door and licked one of her paws quietly, patiently.

Snowfall blinked drowsily, her head lifting into the sunlight. Her eyes widened at the slight of another cat. A cat on my land? The loner leaped to her paws, about to hiss a warning. Then she recognized the other cat.
"Sorrow!!" Snowfall bounded up and greeted her friend with a welcoming purr. "I didn't think you'd be back so soon!!" she exclaimed. "How are you?" Her frosty fur looked well-groomed as smooth despite her recent nap and her eyes glittered with happiness toward her guest, all sleepiness forgotten in an instant.

Sorrow grinned. 'I'm doing good. How have you been doing?' She could see the answer plainly for herself, but she couldn't think of anything else to say. She could always think of plenty that she wanted to talk about when she was in her trees but once she got there and there was Snowfall to talk to she couldn't remember any of the things that she was going to talk about. She shifted on her paws, somewhat uncomfortably, and flicked her ears in irritation on the inside.

"I've been fine", Snowfall replied, a purr rising in her throat. "Come in. From what I've seen of you, you'd be under the shelter of bushes" The she-cat trotted back into the foliage, only a small part of her white pelt visible through the sturdy branches of the bushes. Just before she disappeared, her tail flicked for Sorrow to join her. A well flattened patch of grass was just big enough to hold two friends.

Sorrow smiled and followed Snowfall quietly. Once under the bush she breathed a sigh of relief, she enjoyed the shelter of trees and bushes. 'Nice bush.' she commented, sniffing at the leaves curiously. 'I like nice thick bushes.' She didn't like the open, it made her feel exposed and in danger. As she sat down she wrapped her grey tail neatly over her white paws. She searched desperately for something to start conversation. 'Been on clan territory lately?' she asked, genuinely curious. She admired cats that roamed, she never did herself. She kept to her trees and didn't bother others.

"Yeah, I went on the moor briefly", meowed Snowfall, stretching as she spoke. "One rabbit and I was out. I saw some warriors in the distance but I was gone before they came near."
If anyone else had heard the loner, they probably would think that she was boasting. But boasting was something she never did. Clan territory was her only source of prey. She had two options; steal or starve. As much as she hated it, she had to choose one.

Sorrow grinned. 'You're that fast huh?' she teased a little. 'You know, you can hunt on my territory any time you want too. I only hunt in the trees, so the hunting on the ground should be great.' She offered this carefully, not wanting to offend Snowfall. She figured that if Snowfall needed hunting ground she may as well share her's. After all, she never used it and all the prey stayed safe down there because no cat had wandered onto her territory to hunt.

"Thanks. I'd like that", replied Snowfall. Eager to change the subject, she asked, "So what have you been doing then? Don't want me telling all the secrets do we?" She butted Sorrow playfully on the shoulder. She was grateful that the loner had chosen today for a visit. It's nice to have company every once in a while Snowfall thought to herself.

Sorrow grinned. 'I haven't been doing much. Oh, the other day I found a nest of baby bluebirds! They were so cute.' she closer her eye, remembering the little blue balls of feathers. She hadn' caught any bluebirds since, being afraid that they were the parents of the babies that she had seen. She opened her eyes again. 'Have you seen any baby birds lately? Maybe you could come see the babies sometime, they're growing fast though.' She had remembered where they were and she visited them often now.

"No", replied Snowfall, "but they sound really cute! I can't wait to see them." The loner felt relaxed and happy, relieved to have a pleasant conversation. She began to lick the base of her frost-colored tail as Sorrow talked. As her friend continued, Snowfall couldn't help wondering if she'd ever catch another blue-bird again. Probably not, she decided, smiling to herself.

Sorrow smiled and nodded. 'You'd like them.' Then a thought struck her, 'Have you seen a baby rabbit? I haven't but I heard that sometimes two-legs keep them around.' Sorrow looked at Snowfall curiously, she wanted to know more of what it was like to be a kittypet but she didn't want to just ask that. She had heard that it wasn't fun, that it was boring, but she still was curious about it. She had heard that baby rabbits were cute, she hoped that Snowfall had seen some, then she could tell her what they looked like! She twitched her tail in excitement.

"If I have, I don't remember", replied Snowfall. She couldn't remember anything before the the time that fire destroyed her home, so Sorrow was out of luck. Although Snowfall was now interested in seeing baby animals, see couldn't recall seeing any. The news of Sorrow's discovery made her smile. She hoped that she could see the blue-birds soon.

Sorrow flicked her tail, a little disappointed. She looked up at the sky, and smiled as she remembered that she was under the bush and couldn't see the sky. She wiggled into a half sitting half lying down position, which she felt very comfortable with. 'So, have you been keeping busy?' she asked with a smile. She was trying hard to come up with some sort of conversation but felt that she was failing badly. She hadn't done anything exciting lately, else she would bring that up. Her life in the trees was as droll as ever.

"I haven't really been doing much", admitted Snowfall. "I haven't got must to do really. Hunt, eat, sleep." She smiled to herself. Hunt, eat, sleep, she repeated in her head. I sound like a very energetic cat, she thought sarcastically. "I can't think of anything to say", the she-cat laughed, her eyes sparkling. "What sort of host am I?"
